A long time ago, in May 2018, the IGN Brasil published an article defending the following idea: Harry Potter deserves an open world game. And isn’t it that, in 2020, a particularly complicated period to enjoy the saga created by JK Rowling, this dream came true?
Of course, Hogwarts Legacy has not yet been released. However, now, it’s just a matter of waiting. After all, what does this game need to be everything fans have always wanted? Well, below, we have some suggestions.

In case you are not familiar with the game, Hogwarts Legacy is the first open-world RPG set in the Harry Potter universe. During gambling, players will live as authentic Hogwarts students and will be able to explore not only the castle, but also the areas around it: the Forbidden Forest and Hogesmade, for example.
In addition to exploring iconic environments in the franchise, the game will feature moments when players will need to make choices and will also bring a system through which we will learn new spells as the campaign unfolds.
Perhaps this is unanimous among Harry Potter fans. If players will be embedded in a reality without any direct link to the stories in the books, it is not too much to ask that we can create our own characters and then live through all the initial steps of a Hogwarts student’s journey.
This would, of course, include at least one passage through the Diagon Alley, with visits to the most famous establishments in the region, such as the wand store Olivaras and Banco Gringotes. Unfortunately, however, the Gemeas Weasley store did not exist in the 19th century, the period in which the game is located.
Grifinória, Sonserina, Corvinal or Lufa-lufa?
Obviously, it is necessary for Hogwarts Legacy to bring that moment when students discover which house they belong to. Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff; it would be important for the game to have an accurate and fun system to determine the player’s home. Please do not simply ask what house we want to be in.
In fact, although this may be a great challenge, it would also be interesting if the selection of the house interfered, in some way, in the gameplay – and not only in the cosmetic items, such as uniform and scarf.
Upon arriving at Hogwarts, you will probably need to complete a few hours of tutorial before we can explore everything freely. And it would be brilliant if Quidditch was one of the extra activities present at Hogwarts Legacy.
Assuming that all houses will be relevant in the game, there could even be a championship system involving all athletes at the school. Or, who knows, online games? Perhaps it is dreaming too much, but it remains a valid idea.
Even though student life at Hogwarts can be fun without fighting or anything, duels are a competitive aspect with a lot of potential in the Harry Potter universe. And, of course, they can end up serving as a training mode, in which you can compete against NPCs and, who knows, even win tournaments.
Dueling could be, for example, a way to unlock specific attack and defense spells, or at least allow the development of more powerful versions of the spells we already know. Again: there is a lot of potential for online interaction.
Formally presented in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the Room of Requirement is among the most peculiar environments in the franchise. After all, this place can adapt to the needs of anyone who finds it and does not have only one form.
Naturally, the potential to fill the world of Hogwarts Legacy with side missions located in the Room of Requirement is vast. It can even end up being fundamental for some main missions. Who knows?
We hope that this very special corner of the castle will be remembered.
Iconic secret bosses
Hogwarts Legacy can end up taking players to corners of the castle that have never been explored in books and movies. In these unprecedented secret areas, scary and powerful creatures could live against which it would be necessary to fight. Or even hostile ghosts.
Facing Fofo, the three-headed dog that appears in Philosopher’s Stone, would be a lot of fun. And, of course, meeting new monsters would not be bad. Therefore, we can only hope that they will be able to explore the never-before-visited corners of Hogwarts.
Many potion options
Do you remember when you first played The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and saw how many potions the game brought? Well, if any game has the potential to bring even more bottles with mysterious and powerful liquids, this game is Hogwarts Legacy.
It would not necessarily be unexpected if the game brought missions in which it is necessary to use the Polissuco potion, but there is potential for so many other potions in this game. And, of course, we can learn many of them during classes or even in private lessons with teachers. Incidentally, wouldn’t it be interesting if the game brought different specialization options?
Hogwarts Legacy, the next Harry Potter game, will be released in 2021 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One and PC. For now, there is no specific date set for the game’s arrival on the market.
