The Federal District recorded, this Thursday (9/24), 16 deaths due to the new coronavirus. With these notifications, the number of deaths since the beginning of the pandemic rises to 3,164, of which 2,901 were residents of the Federal District and 263 refer to patients who lived in other units of the Federation and received care in the district health network.
The data are from the Covid-19 Panel, powered by the Federal District Government (GDF). The deaths entered the official statistics on Thursday. However, not all occurred in that time frame. Deaths are only counted after confirming their cause, which can take days.
According to the page, the most recent victims lived in the following administrative regions: Ceilândia, Taguatinga, Samambaia, Santa Maria, Sobradinho, Recanto das Emas, Riacho Fundo II and Varjão.
In the last 24 hours, 890 cases of the new coronavirus were confirmed. Thus, the number of infected people reaches 186,940. In all, 175,822 people have already recovered from the disease in the country’s capital.
With 579 lives lost, Ceilândia remains ahead among the cities with the most deaths. Following are Taguatinga (319) and Samambaia (246).
Among professionals, those in the health area are the most affected. According to the bulletin, 6,322 doctors, nurses and technicians were contaminated, with 33 deaths.
Then, those most affected by the disease are those of Public Security, with 1,611 cases and 11 deaths.
