World Heart Day, celebrated annually on September 29, was created by the World Heart Federation (World Heart Federation) and aims to inform and sensitize the population about cardiovascular diseases.
With this date, the World Heart Federation aims to alert to the need to control the main risk factors, such as smoking, unhealthy eating and a sedentary lifestyle, to prevent premature deaths from heart disease.
To mark the day, the Portuguese Society of Cardiology will start today, in Alfragide, a campaign aimed at transmitting information about the harmful effects of high cholesterol on cardiovascular health. Free screenings will also be done to assess cholesterol levels and other health parameters that may contribute to cardiovascular risk.
