The General Assembly Table of Benfica met this Friday with representatives of the four candidate lists for the Elections and communicated to them the decision to «anticipate and call the electoral act for the next 28th of October».
Scheduled for October 30, the elections had to be changed due to new measures imposed by the government. After Thursday’s council of ministers, it became known that the executive banned travel between municipalities during October 30 and November 3.
According to the statutes, the electoral GA would have to take place between the 24th and 30th of October, so anticipation was the most natural scenario.

«As is known to the public, it will not be possible to carry out the electoral act for the governing bodies of Sport Lisboa e Benfica, on the initially scheduled date, October 30, due to the strict restrictions announced by the Council of Ministers, prohibiting the free movement of citizens between Counties, between October 30th and November 3rd.
According to the expected worsening of the pandemic situation for the foreseeable future, as publicly assumed by health officials and specialists with the inherent implementation of the most varied security and restriction measures.
Respecting the strict compliance with the Club’s Statutes, which establishes and defines, under the terms of article 55, number 2, point a) that the electoral acts for the Club’s governing bodies (Board of the General Assembly, Management and Supervisory Board) must perform between October 24 and 31, every four years.
