Benfica’s elections were brought forward to next Wednesday, October 28. The decision was announced by the Chairman of the Board of the General Meeting, Virgílio Duque Vieira, in a meeting with the candidates, at Estádio da Luz, Record.

As is known to the public, it will not be possible to carry out the electoral act for the governing bodies of Sport Lisboa e Benfica, on the initially scheduled date, October 30, due to the strict restrictions announced by the Council of Ministers, prohibiting the free movement of citizens between municipalities, between October 30th and November 3rd.
According to the expected worsening of the pandemic situation for the foreseeable future, as publicly assumed by health officials and specialists with the inherent implementation of the most varied security and restriction measures.
Respecting the strict compliance with the Club’s Statutes, which establishes and defines, under the terms of article 55, number 2, point a) that the electoral acts for the Club’s governing bodies (Board of the General Assembly, Management and Supervisory Board) must perform between October 24 and 31, every four years.
The General Assembly Table of Sport Lisboa e Benfica met today with representatives of the four candidate lists for the Elections of the Governing Bodies of Sport Lisboa e Benfica, communicated to them the decision to anticipate and call the electoral act for the next 28 October 2020 , Wednesday, under the terms and conditions foreseen in the previously published call notice, namely regarding voting times and places. “
