This Monday, the Porto Municipal Assembly approved, by a large majority (with votes against CDU and PAN abstaining), the exchange of land that will allow Liga Portugal to maintain its headquarters in the city, in the parish of Ramalde.
After the Municipal Executive approved the program contract on the 12th, for the construction of the Arena Liga Portugal, the proposal passed in the Municipal Assembly, and now the Liga Portugal is ready to take the first steps of a work that is expected completed in 2023.
«As I said on the 12th, it didn’t make sense for a project of this size not to be based in Porto, where the League was born in 1978. This is a day of celebration for professional football, which will have a new modern headquarters, with areas of leisure, but also training. I leave a word of appreciation to Dr. Rui Moreira, who, from the first hour, had the vision and the ability to believe in this project. We are going to move forward now, with the certainty of an even more professional future in football, ”said Pedro Proença, president of the League.
