Leonardo Rodrigues de Jesus, Léo Índio, left the office of Chico Rodrigues (DEM-RR) after the senator was caught with money in his underwear in a Federal Police action on Wednesday (14).
Cousin of the children of President Jair Bolsonaro (without a party), he has served as parliamentary advisor since last year. According to the Twitter, two aspects led Indio to give up a monthly salary of R $ 23,000: embarrassment and family pressure. The dismissal was confirmed today by the congressman’s adviser.
The former aide would have been instructed by Bolsonaro’s assistants to request resignation and remain silent, out of the spotlight, lest his image be further linked to the senator’s scandal – in order to harm the President of the Republic.
Indio received the same advice when talking by phone with one of the president’s sons, the city councilman Carlos Bolsonaro (Republicanos-RJ), to whom he is very close.
In Congress, colleagues report that, resigned, the former aide would have said it was time to “turn the page”.
In Bolsonaro’s assessment, Léo Índio’s work as an aide to Rodrigues created a “glass roof”, as defined by an assistant at the Planalto Palace. The removal was not a direct order of the government, but a recommendation.
Yesterday (15), a report in the newspaper “O Estado de S. Paulo” showed that Índio was guided by Bolsonaro’s allies to leave the French, as part of a strategy to shield Bolsonaro from the repercussion in the case.
Léo Índio he is the son of a sister of Rogéria Nantes, the president’s first wife. He lived for a period with his cousin Carlos Bolsonaro and served as his informal adviser at the Rio City Council until he was allocated to Rodrigues’ office.
Became a public figure after the victory of Jair Bolsonaro in 2018 due to social networks. He used to appear constantly in photos alongside Carlos.
With Bolsonaro’s accession to the Presidency, Léo Índio started to frequent the corridors of the Planalto Palace, even though he did not have a position.
Only in the first 45 days of the president’s term, he was in the Plateau 45 times. In addition, he traveled with the official delegation that traveled to Brumadinho, in Minas Gerais, at the time of the tragedy of the rupture of the Córrego do Feijão mine dam (January 2019).
In 2019, after questioning his role in the government, Léo Índio was appointed to Rodrigues’ office.
THE Twitter was unable to contact the former adviser to comment on the case. When he took office in the senator’s office, he wrote on a social network that he admired Chico Rodrigues.
“I belong to the president’s family, as has been reported in the press a few times, which is why I constantly endure trials and various types of attacks, and I will make a point of working to show how unfair they are,” he wrote at the time.
