The daily moving average of deaths caused by the new coronavirus in Brazil it was 496 this Wednesday, 14. The value considers the fluctuations of the last seven days and eliminates distortions between a high number of midweek and a low number of weekend.
Since 8 pm on the previous day, the country has registered 716 new deaths, bringing the total to 151,779 Brazilians who died from the disease since the beginning of pandemic. The number of cases rose to 5,141,498, after the count of more than 26,675 infected Brazilians. The data are from the survey of the press media consortium, formed by Estadão, G1, Or Balloon, Extra, leaf and UOL, and done in conjunction with the state health secretariats. Ministry of Health points out that there are 4,568,813 recovered from the disease and another 420,303 that are being followed up.
Sao Paulo, the state with the highest absolute values of coronavirus in the country, registered in the last 24 hours over 6,031 new cases and 227 deaths. In total, the State registers 1,045,060 infected and 37,541 deaths.
Already in Rio de Janeiro 104 deaths and 1,152 new cases of the disease were recorded in the last 24 hours. So far, 19,440 people have died from the coronavirus in the state, which records 285,205 cases.
According to a count by Johns Hopkins University (USA), Brazil remains the third country most affected by the pandemic in terms of the number of contaminated. It is second only to the United States and India, which occupy the first and second positions, respectively. However, in relation to the total number of deaths, the country remains in second place.
The balance of deaths and cases is the result of a partnership between the six media that began to work, since June 8, in a collaborative way to gather the necessary information in the 26 states and the Federal District. In an unprecedented way, the initiative was a response to the Bolsonaro government’s decision to restrict access to data on the pandemic and remained even after the maintenance of government records.
According to the Ministry of Health, 27,235 new cases of infection by covid-19 and 749 new deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours. In all, 5,140,863 people became infected and 151,747 died from the disease. The numbers differ from those compiled by the press media consortium mainly because of the time of data collection.
