Caixa opens 772 branches tomorrow to pay FGTS emergency withdrawal

Caixa Econômica Federal opens tomorrow (17) 772 branches for the payment of an emergency withdrawal of up to R $ 1,045 from the Severance Indemnity Fund (FGTS) to 10.8 million workers born in July and August. Service will be from 8 am to noon.

The list of agencies is available at You don’t have to arrive before opening hours. In a statement, Caixa clarified that all people who look for branches within the operating period will be served.

In addition to the withdrawal, it will be possible to transfer the amounts free of charge, through the Caixa Tem application, to another account, either from Caixa or other financial institutions.

In August, Caixa credited R $ 5.8 billion to workers’ digital savings accounts. The money had been deposited on August 10 (for those born in July) and on August 24 (for those born in August).

Since then, funds could be used only through Caixa Tem, which allows purchases by virtual debit card, purchases by QR Code (advanced version of the barcode) at partner establishments and the payment of slips and residential bills.

Aid measure

One of the measures to aid the economy in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic, the FGTS emergency withdrawal benefits approximately 60 million workers with up to R $ 1,045, who received R $ 37.8 billion in total. All beneficiaries received the deposit in the digital savings account. The last batch, for workers born in December, was credited on September 24th.

Cash withdrawals and bank transfers of FGTS funds are still being made in staggered stages, according to the month of the worker’s birthday. Those born in November and December will be able to withdraw FGTS funds in kind from the next 31st.
