A canceled reboot of the Mega Drive classic Golden Axe was revealed to the public for the first time and will be available to download as a demo for a limited time.
Called “Golden Axed: A Cancelled Prototype”, The attempt to revitalize the series uses 3D models in a 2D side-scrolling perspective and can be tested for free on the PC, via Steam.
In the description of the title on the Valve platform, it is explained that the project was being developed by Sega Studios Australia in the early 2010s and would be part of a collection called Sega Reborn, which would also bring 2.5D reboots from other classics like Altered Beast e Streets of Rage. However, the developer was closed in 2013 and the collection project abandoned.
The unusual offer is part of the celebration of 60 years of SEGA and is available between Sunday (18) and Monday, the 19th, until 3:00 pm, Brasília time.
