On Saturday, the municipal chief in Målselv municipality made the decision to close the Svingen pub with immediate effect. The pub will be closed for a week.
The municipality writes in a press release on Friday night.
This happens after the pub has received several remarks due to breaches of the infection control rules.
Assistance from the police
Already this summer, the nightclub was pointed out in violation of the infection control regulations, the municipality writes in a press release.
Earlier this week, the infection control doctor in Målselv municipality became aware of a video recording that showed «serious breaches of the distance regulations»On the pub’s dance floor. The case was then dealt with by the politicians in the municipality.
On Friday night, the municipal superior received tips about new violations of the infection control rules at the pub.
In a video you can see a large crowd around the nightclub’s entrance. The police patrol also estimated that there were 80-90 people present in a room that, according to the police’s assessment, could not take more than 40 guests. The pub was thus closed down.
– What we are worried about is that behavior in such a place can lead to a mass infection event, and we would very much like to avoid that, says municipal chief physician Vidar Bjørnås.
– I’m really sorry for the situation
The pub’s owner, Jan Johnsen, says they have a good collaboration with the municipal chief and the police in the case.
– We can not have it like that, so we shut down. We apologize and I am really sorry for the situation, says Johnsen.
During the week the pub is closed, Johnsen will go through routines and look at how, and if, the pub can reopen.
– We shut down and look at the situation, he says.
The police have not received any reports of the nightclub and are currently not doing anything more with the case. This is stated by operations manager in Troms police district Per Arve Aass.
