Compaj interns produce handkerchiefs and donate to FCecon patients

Manaus – This Saturday (17), a donation of 194 tissues was delivered to patients undergoing treatment at the Foundation for the Control of Oncology of the State of Amazonas (FCecon). The action was carried out by the State Department of Penitentiary Administration (Seap), in reference to the month dedicated to the prevention of breast cancer, the “Pink October”

Fifteen inmates from the re-socialization program “Working for Freedom” participated in the production of the handkerchiefs. They work at the sewing factory of the Anísio Jobim Penitentiary Complex (Compaj), where more than 68,000 disposable masks have also been made to prevent the new coronavirus.

During the delivery of donations, the director of Compaj, Lucas Maceda, spoke about the importance of gesture in the psychological of the reeducated.

“This makes them feel important and part of society. It is a way for them to feel useful, as the donation will rescue the self-esteem of many women who are treated at the foundation, ”he said.

The director of the Cecon Foundation, Gerson Mourão, thanked the donation and praised the re-socialization work carried out in the prison system. “It is an honor to receive a donation made by inmates,” he said. In addition to the handkerchiefs, 80 manicure kits were donated.

The production of the handkerchiefs was an idea of ​​the Compaj Social Service team, which was embraced by the management and the co-management company Reviver Administração Prisional Privada. “Practices like this make us believe that resocialization and the transformation of man is possible”, analyzed Lucas Maceda.
