Conor McGregor backed down on his demand to fight still in 2020 and accepted a proposal from Dana White for his rematch against Dustin Poirier to happen only in January 2021. However, the Irishman came with another request in the sequence: he wants the confrontation to happen in a American football stadium, more precisely AT&T Stadium, arena of the Dallas Cowboys team in Arlington, Texas (USA).

On Wednesday, UFC president White publicly stated that he had offered McGregor the date of January 23, 2021, and added that the date was the only option. The Irishman had asked to fight in 2020, but the Ultimate schedule is already closed with big belt fights until the end of the year.
Early in the evening, McGregor gave his response on social media: “I accept, it’s going to be on January 23rd! My goal is for this fight to take place at the Cowboys stadium. Dallas Cowboys) is my friend and the stadium can support our audience. I’ll be ready for Texas and Texas will be ready for my fans! Then, Manny “.

AT&T Stadium has the capacity to receive more than 100 thousand people; its attendance record is 108,713 people in the 2010 NBA Star Game, and received 101,763 people at Wrestlemania 32, a telecatch event held in April 2016 in a setting close to that used by the UFC.
At the moment, the state of Texas is in the third phase of its economic reopening, and the stadium can receive up to 50% of its capacity in football matches. In three matches in the 2020 season so far, the arena has received an average of 23,958 people.
McGregor’s intention is to face Dustin Poirier, whom he won in 2014 with the UFC, as part of his preparation for a boxing match against Manny Pacquiao, multi-world champion and southpaw like Poirier.
