Striker Mauro Boselli will be the substitute for the injured Jô in the duel with Flamengo, this Sunday, at 16h, at Neo Química Arena, for the 17th round of the Brazilian Championship. And the Argentine bears fond memories of the Rio club.
In 2014, when he was still playing for León-MEX, where he is an undisputed idol, the player scored the second goal of the Mexican victory by 3-2 over Cariocas, in the last game of the group stage of the Copa Libertadores de América that year, in full Maracanã.
Boselli, who had already scored in the duel disputed in Mexico, took advantage of crossing the left and won the red-black back, composed, among other names, by the ex-Corinthians André Santos.
The flamenguistas even tied the duel on two occasions, a result that would also take the Mexicans to the next stage. Near the end, the North American team made the 3-2 to seal their passage to the octaves and the fall of the cariocas.
For Corinthians, it is worth remembering, Boselli faced Flamengo on three occasions, but failed to balance the nets – were two wins and a draw in 2019.
