Treated as a promise by the youth teams of Corinthians in the early 2000s, striker Abuda excited the fans in his first games as a professional. Over time, however, he did not live up to all expectations and became more marked by the 2004 Copinha.
“I wasn’t sure that I was going to play in the São Paulo Cup. Tite, who was the coach at the time, asked me to come down. Me and about four or five other players came down to play the tournament. It was a very special year for me, not least because it gave the professional a better chance. We ended up being champions over São Paulo. It was 2 to 0. Júlio Cesar goalkeeper, Bobô, Jô, Rosinei, Fininho, Rafael Fefo, Elton, Ronny, Nilton, I … There were some good champions, ” Sports.
Editorial note: the coach, in fact, was Juninho Fonseca, later replaced by Oswaldo de Oliveira. Tite only took over Corinthians in the second half.
Despite the good performance in the main competition of the youth teams and the initial opportunities in the professional group, Abuda was unable to continue in the following season, marked by the arrival of numerous reinforcements through the partnership with MSI.
“At the time, it was MSI. And many players were hired. Medallions. We ended up losing a little space. I came from the base and, at the time, a proposal to throw away came up. I didn’t think twice: I wasn’t being taken advantage of, I was back and forth between professionals for juniors, juniors for professionals, ”he said.
“Even though I played some good games in the 2005 Brazilian Championship, I didn’t stay. I played well against Flamengo, Vasco, Fortaleza … But those players ended up being hired and had to play, even for the values for which they were bought. I preferred to leave“, completed.
Even without asserting himself, the affection for Timão continues and the striker continues to follow the club that has earned him great stories and good friends.
“Always, always (I follow), nowadays I have contact with Willian, who is at Arsenal, with goalkeeper Júlio César (Red Bull Bragantino). Nowadays we talk on the phone, on WhatsApp, and, thank God, the friendship continues with them there “, he concluded.
