Portugal now counts 17 more deaths and 1,949 cases of infection with the new coronavirus, today exceeding 100 thousand cases since the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic, the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) said today. The Region of Coimbra, a territorial unit that includes 19 municipalities, already has 1,892 confirmed cases of infection, with the municipality of Coimbra approaching 900.
The municipality of Coimbra already registers 896 infection records, standing out from the rest also due to the population density of the district capital. The table follows with a long distance the municipality of Cantanhede with 205, condeixa, with 187, Figueira da Foz with 105 and, below the centa, Penacova with 75 registered cases. All other municipalities have registered numbers of infections below 50, since the beginning of the pandemic. Pampilhosa da Serra registers only three cases of infection, according to the DGS document.
According to the latest bulletin released today, since the beginning of the pandemic, Portugal has recorded 101,860 confirmed cases and 2,198 deaths.
Health officials have 55,425 people on surveillance, 574 more than on Sunday. DGS also reveals that 39,696 cases are active, 966 more than on Sunday.
According to the report of the 17 registered deaths, 12 occurred in the North region and three in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, and two in the Center.
Regarding hospital admissions, the bulletin reveals that in the last 24 hours, there were 88 more hospitalized people, totaling 1,174, of which 165 were in intensive care (10 more compared to Sunday).
In the last 24 hours, 966 patients recovered, totaling 59,966 since the start of the pandemic.
In the region of Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, another 749 new cases of infection were reported, with the region accounting for 48,161 cases and 884 deaths.
Today, the North region has more than 987 new cases of covid-19, totaling 40,436 cases and 971 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
In the Center region there were 133 more cases, accounting for 8,347 infections and 279 deaths.
In Alentejo, 35 new cases of covid-19 were registered, totaling 2,026, with a total of 27 killed since the beginning of the pandemic.
The Algarve region has today reported 32 more new cases of infection, totaling 2,231 cases and 22 deaths.
In the Autonomous Region of the Azores, seven new cases were registered in the last 24 hours, adding up to 325 infections detected and 15 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
Madeira recorded six new cases in the last 24 hours, accounting for 334 infections, with no deaths to date.
Confirmed cases are distributed across all age groups, with the highest number of infections between 20 and 59 years of age.
Today’s bulletin discloses the number of cases per municipality, with Lisbon continuing to have the most infections (8,241), followed by Sintra (6,763), Loures (3,891) and Amadora (3,470).
The municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia registers 2,888 infections due to SARS-CoV-2, Porto 2,884, Odivelas 2,676, Cascais 2,695, Oeiras 2,131, Vila Franca de Xira 2.007, Matosinhos 1.929, Braga 1,819, Guimarães 1,772, Almada 1,660, Seixal 1.603, Gondomar 1.523, Maia 1.418, Paço de Ferreira 1.303, Valongo 1.160 and Vila Nova de Famalicão 1021 state the report on the epidemiological situation of covid-19 in Portugal. The remaining counties on the list of the report registered values below one thousand cases.
