Cruzeiro won the 11th consecutive title of the Minas Gerais Volleyball Championship by beating Minas Tennis Club by 3 sets to 1, partial of 25/21, 25/17, 23/25 and 25/23. The match was held at Arena JK, on Rua da Bahia, in the Lourdes neighborhood, in Belo Horizonte.
The 3 to 1 triumph crowned the 100% achievement achieved by the celestial team throughout the competition. In the previous duel against Minas, on October 11, Raposa won 3-2 (25/15, 23/25, 25/15, 26/28 and 9/15). In the semifinal, this Friday, he suffered to overcome Uberlândia, also by 3 to 2 (21/25, 25/21, 25/27, 25/22 and 16/14).
In an interview with TVN Sports, Fernando Cachopa spoke about the hegemony of Cruzeiro in the tournament. “Another competition in which we had to be very versatile and relearn how to play the game after a long time, without feeling the adrenaline and without experiencing the feeling of the match, the pressure and the responsibility. It was a competition in which we fluctuated a lot. We started very badly, but we finished very well ”, he said.
“The team at Minas was showing a very good relationship throughout the competition. They passed the regular phase very well and the semifinals very well also against the Montes Claros team. And we encountered a great difficulty yesterday against Uberlândia. Today we marked the Minas team well. The side here was exceptional too ”, added the setter.
Before the final, Montes Claros América Vôlei and Uberlândia met each other in the dispute for third place. Best for the Triângulo Mineiro team, who played 3-2, with partials of 19/25, 25/22, 25/20, 22/25 and 16/14.
Preparation for the Super League
The 2020 edition of the state volleyball counted with the participation of only four teams, who improved their preparation aiming at the Volleyball Super League 2020/2021, to be held between October 31 and April 21.
In addition to Cruzeiro, Minas, América and Uberlândia, they are confirmed in the men’s tournament Blumenau (SC), Itapetininga (SP), Caramuru Vôlei (PR), Taubaté (SP), Sesi (SP), Guarulhos (SP), Vôlei Ribeirão (SP) ) and Campinas (SP).
Six times Superliga champion, Cruzeiro will debut against Guarulhos on November 1st (Sunday), at 9:30 pm, at Arnaldo José Celeste gymnasium, in Guarulhos-SP. The duel will be shown on SporTV. The day before (Saturday, 10/31), at 7 pm, Minas will visit Volleyball Ribeirão, at the Cava do Bosque gym, in Ribeirão Preto-SP.
On Tuesday, November 3, Uberlândia faces Taubaté, at home, at 9:30 pm, while América picks up Campinas, at 7:00 pm, at Tancredo Neves gym, in Montes Claros. Both games will be broadcast on SporTV.
