“D” day against polio and multivaccination takes place this Saturday in Caxias do Sul and region


All UBSs will be open for immunization from 8 am to 5 pm

On this Saturday (17th), “D” Day against polio and multivaccination in the municipalities of the region. In this way, all Basic Health Units (UBSs) will be open from 8 am to 5 pm (in Flores da Cunha, except Mato Perso which is only until 12 pm). In Caxias do Sul, to date, 2,664 children have been immunized against polio and 3,918 children and adolescents received other doses during the update of the booklet.

According to the director of Epidemiological Surveillance, Mônica Renosto, this vaccine protects against childhood paralysis, and in Brazil there have been no cases since 1989. In addition, Mônica points out that all professionals were also trained with a view to safety in relation to the pandemic.

The polio vaccine campaign is for children from 1 year to 4 years 11 months and 29 days. The goal is to reach 95% of children in this age group, which, according to IBGE, is 22,127 thousand. The multivaccination campaign aims to update the vaccination schedule for children and adolescents (0 to 14 years old).

The campaign started on the 5th and continues until October 30th.
