Death toll rises to four in Beirut blast


Unew ma update of the Lebanese Red Cross raises to four the number of deaths following an explosion in Beirut, this Friday, reports Reuters. The explosion resulted from a “fuel tank” of a bakery that caught fire in the neighborhood Tariq al-Jdide

According to Al-Jadeed, there are more than 20 injured, since the explosion occurred in a area densely populated of the Lebanese capital.

Firefighters evacuated people from the buildings around the blast site, adds the AFP.

This explosion occurs two months after the big explosion in the port of Beirut, which took the lives of hundreds of people. On Tuesday, the Lebanese government raised the death toll from the explosion to 202.

The executive maintains the total number of people injured in the explosion of 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate at around 6,500, noting that nine others remain missing – three Lebanese, five Syrians and an Egyptian.
