Radical innovation arm of the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer, a EmbraerX launched on Thursday a new independent company, focusing on urban aerial mobility. Baptism Eve, the company was born as a result of the first spin-off of the American subsidiary.
In a note, the company informs that Eve, which has been incubated for almost four years at EmbraerX, is developing a complete portfolio of urban air mobility solutions, including an electric take-off and vertical landing vehicle (eVTOL), a support network and associated services and urban air traffic management solutions.
The new company will be led by executive André Stein, responsible for EmbraerX’s strategy.
“We value the enormous potential of the UAM market [mobilidade aérea urbana]because it represents a new business segment in which we foresee great opportunities for Embraer ”, says the president of the Brazilian company, Francisco Gomes Neto, in the statement.
As part of the strategy to accelerate the development of urban air mobility, EmbraerX has been part of the Uber Elevate project since its launch in 2017. For the head of Uber Elevate, Eric Allison, the launch of Eve represents an “important advance in the commercialization of Embraer’s eVTOL projects ”.
