Fischer started his career at San Lorenzo, from Argentina, a club he defended on two occasions: 1965 to 1972 and 1977 to 1978. In the interval between his spells with the Argentine team, he played for the Brazilian Botafogo for five seasons and for Vitória in 1976. He also spent by Once Caldas, from Colombia, and also by Argentines Sarmiento de Junín and Belgrano.
At San Lorenzo, the former striker was part of the historic campaign for the 1968 Argentine title, won unbeaten. At the time, the team became known as “Los Matadores” and had Fischer as top scorer. He was still the top scorer in the 1969 national championship. In 272 matches for the Argentine team, “El Lobo” scored 141 goals.
