France has surpassed 30,000 new cases of covid-19 in the past 24 hours, for the first time since the launch of large-scale tests, according to French Public Health data published today.
The number of new infections is 30,621, which brings the total number of cases to 809,684, specifies the health agency, adding 88 deaths in the last 24 hours, which makes a total of 33,125 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
There are 1,586 contagion sources in active research in the country, 130 of which were located in the last day.
The number of patients hospitalized in the last week is 6,529, of which 1,750 are in Intensive Care Units.
The rate of positive results in diagnostic tests is 12.6% across the country.
In the balance sheet of the health agency, the authorities indicate that there are 84 departments, out of a total of 101, in a situation of high vulnerability due to the strong circulation of the virus.
The Government confirmed today that the country will enter a state of health emergency on Saturday, which allows for the application of extraordinary measures such as the curfew in Paris and eight other major cities, from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am local time, during a minimum of four weeks.
In addition, private parties and celebrations across the country are prohibited and the application of strict security protocols in restaurants and public reception venues across the country has been expanded.
The covid-19 pandemic has already caused more than one million and ninety-three thousand deaths and more than 38.5 million cases of infection worldwide, according to a report made by the French agency AFP.
The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December in Wuhan, a city in central China.
