Agência Brasil – The president of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Minister Luix Fux, scheduled for Wednesday (21) the trial on the removal of Senator Chico Rodrigues (DEM-RR) from office. After the decision is taken by the Court, the Senate will still need to endorse the collegiate’s position.
Earlier, the case reporter, Luís Roberto Barroso, decided to submit his individual decision to the plenary. Yesterday (15), Barroso removed the deputy from office for 90 days so as not to disturb the investigations of the Federal Police (PF).
On Wednesday (14), Chico Rodrigues was the target of Operation Desvid-19, which investigates alleged deviations of approximately R $ 20 million in public resources resulting from parliamentary amendments that would be destined to the Roraima Department of Health to combat the pandemic of Covid-19. Rodrigues was one of the targets of the action and, during the searches and seizures in Boa Vista, the agents found bundles of money in his underwear.
Yesterday, in a note in which he asked for the removal of the vice-leadership of the government in the House, the senator declared that everything will be clarified and that it has nothing to do with “any illegal act of any nature”.
