In Brazil, iPhone 12 models still have no price or release forecast
In an event this Tuesday, 13, in California, Apple presented its four new cell phone models to the world: iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. With the novelty of 5G, the devices enter the fight with models of Samsung and Motorola, also launched this year, as the lines Samsung S20 and Galaxy Note 20, and Motorola Edge.
With premium cell phone specifications, all models have the camera system and features of the device’s body design – all for the user to feel they have a first-rate product in their hands. To help you with your research before buying a cell phone, we have gathered here the main characteristics of these models.

With the exception of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini, the other models have a 3D depth sensor, called Time of Flight that allows better capture of the space in the images. In the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini versions, the optical zoom is 2x, and the digital zoom is 3x. Both the Samsung S20 and the S20 + feature a 3x optical zoom and a powerful 30x digital zoom, while the Motorola Edge has a 2x optical zoom.

Motorola Edge: 25MP f / 2.0 camera
The front camera of the Motorola Edge stands out among the rest, with its 25MP. Night mode has also been incorporated to win over users who want to take selfies at night: all the models above have the configuration.

iPhone 12: Up to 17 hours of video playback and 65 hours of audio playback
Samsung S20: 4000 mAh

Yes, Apple does not usually disclose many details about its batteries, reporting only the number of hours estimated for activities such as audio and video playback. The Samsung models keep the interesting Wireless PowerShare in the S20, which allows battery sharing with other devices and a quick charging option for fans of wireless chargers. In Motorola Edge you can find TurboPower technology, which promises to charge the entire charge of the phone in just a few minutes.
iPhone 12 Mini: 5.4 inch OLED screen
iPhone 12: 6.1-inch OLED screen
Samsung S20: 6.2 inch AMOLED
Samsung S20+: 6.7 inch AMOLED
Motorola Edge: 6.7 inch OLED
Among the screens, Apple is the only one to keep the notch at the top, with more space. In the other models, the front camera is in a kind of “hole”, trying to occupy the smallest possible space and wrapped in the smartphone’s own screen.
Storage and memory options
iPhone 12 Mini: 64GB, 128GB e 256GB
iPhone 12: 64GB, 128GB e 256GB, 4GB de RAM
Samsung S20: 128GB e 8GB de RAM
Samsung S20+: 128GB e 8GB de RAM
Motorola Edge: 128GB com 6GB de RAM
With more options and no possibility of extension, the iPhone 12 versions cover the choice of storage in need and price (since models with less memory are cheaper). For those looking for space, Samsung and Motorola devices also have a microSD card slot and an increase in storage of up to 1TB.

iPhone 12 Pro e iPhone 12 Pro Max versus Samsung Galaxy Note 20 e Galaxy Note 20 Ultra versus Motorola Edge+
iPhone 12 Pro: Pro camera with three 12 MP lenses, being ultra-wide at f / 2.4, wide-angle at f / 1.6 and 2.0 telephoto

Among the models, only the Galaxy S20 and S20 + do not have a 3D depth sensor. The device, called Time of Flight on Motorola devices, is also present in the simpler version of Edge +, and on Apple models they are new. Called LiDAR, the sensor was already present in some iPad models of the brand, and now also integrates the Pro versions of the iPhone 12.
The triple cameras of the iPhone Pro models now have the 3D LiDAR sensor, which promises better results in depth

Galaxy Note 20: 10MP f / 2.2 camera
Galaxy Note 20 Ultra: 10MP f / 2.2 camera
Motorola Edge+: 25MP f / 2.0 camera
Once again, the Motorola Edge stands out for having one of the highest front camera resolutions on the market. The design also follows the simplest versions of all smartphones in the notch: Apple with space, Motorola and Samsung with a “scoop”. The novelty is the presence of Time-lapse with night mode in video recordings, brought by Apple this year.
iPhone 12 Pro: Up to 17 hours of video playback and 65 hours of audio playback
iPhone 12 Pro Max: Up to 20 hours of video playback and 80 hours of audio playback
Galaxy Note 20: 4300mAh
Galaxy Note 20 Ultra: 4500mAh
Motorola Edge+: 5000mAh
Traditionally, Apple also did not specify the battery capacity in mAh of the batteries of the new models, it only reported performance on some tasks. Motorola brings one of the biggest capabilities on the market – and promises that it will be able to last for up to two days. Samsung is betting on fast charging: according to the company, it is possible to charge more than half of the cell phone battery in 30 minutes. The tip is to look at your greatest need in this regard before choosing the smartphone.

iPhone 12 Pro Max: 6.7 inch OLED screen
Galaxy Note 20: 6.7 inch AMOLED
Galaxy Note 20 Ultra: 6.9 inch AMOLED
Motorola Edge+: OLED 6.7 polegadas
Infinity edge screens gain space on the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20+ models, and the Motorola Edge models, which also have large screens in less advanced versions – the iPhone 12 Pro, despite the market level, has a full-size screen similar to the iPhone 12.

While Apple models remain without the slots for increased storage, their options offer alternatives for different user profiles – a strategy followed by Motorola in the Edge + version and by the Samsung Galaxy Note 20. The expansion is even due to the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra : it is the only model of the premium devices above that allows the insertion of a microSD card, to increase storage by up to 1TB.

Recalling that Apple devices still have no price in Brazil, but that the high dollar should bring the figures to high values this year – the brand’s usual. Launched between February and August, Samsung models also incorporate the profile of customers looking for the premium handset willing to shell out reasonable amounts, while Motorola is still looking for its replacement in the premium handsets market, with specifications – and prices – of such.
