Huawei revealed, at the Huawei Mate 40 Series Global Launch Event, new developments for the Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) ecosystem, with updates for Petal Search, as well as Petal Maps and Huawei Docs applications, which aim to improve the digital experience of Huawei’s global users.
Huawei’s official research application, Petal Search, is now available in more than 170 countries and regions and in more than 50 languages, allowing users to more conveniently and instantly find the information and services they need.
Petal Search offers search capabilities in more than 20 categories, including applications, news, videos, images, shopping, flights and local businesses. It also develops and integrates several tools, such as meteorology, calculator, currency exchange, among others, to help the user to easily obtain daily use information. With the new update, the search experience is now visually more convenient. Search results are presented on information cards, rather than simple links, to help users get that useful information with just a few clicks.
Taking advantage of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) features of Huawei devices, Petal Search allows users to search by taking photos or images, using a visual search function. The application recognizes a wide variety of objects, such as people, animals and landmarks, and features new features, such as the identification of plants. For example, the user can simply take a picture of a dish and Petal Search will present the recipe. The voice search feature is also integrated into the application, available in English, Spanish, French, Arabic and many other languages. These resources help Petal Search to respond to the needs of users accustomed to an efficient lifestyle and with their mobile phone as an ally.
In addition, with cooperation with leading global and local partners, Petal Search is effectively developing local search services to provide the user with a rich search experience based on location and scenarios. When the user searches for content from local life, Petal Search provides high quality and most popular localized information, such as personalized recommendations or nearby food, local attractions that are worth visiting and the latest discounts on purchases.
A Petal Maps, in turn, is Huawei’s navigation and mapping tool, offering features such as positioning services, immersive map displays, location surveys, direction navigation and lists of favorite locations for users in more than 140 countries and regions. This application provides maps in multiple languages, with voice notifications in English, French, Spanish, German, Italian and Mandarin.
In addition, the Petal Maps application is also equipped with state-of-the-art functions to provide real-time traffic information in several major cities around the world, helping passengers to better plan their routes and lessen any worries while traveling. Using pioneering technologies such as Super GNSS and image recognition algorithms, Petal Maps further increases accuracy and presents more efficient and less congested routes.
Thanks to the gesture control of the Huawei Mate 40 series devices, drivers can switch between the navigation view and the map overview simply with gestures, without having to touch the screen. These intelligent interactions significantly increase the ease of travel, in addition to facilitating a safe driving experience.
THE Huawei Docs, available to users of the Huawei Mate40 series in more than 100 countries and regions, it allows viewing and editing documents in more than 50 formats, including PDF, PPT and DOC. With real-time synchronization supported by features in the Cloud, Huawei Docs allows users to work on the same document on different devices connected to the same Huawei ID, enhancing the smart office experience.
Or updated Find My Device allows users to locate their Huawei devices, such as smartphones, watches, headphones and glasses. Users can play a ringtone remotely to help locate devices or choose to block and erase information on them, protecting user privacy.
A Huawei Temas it also introduced exclusive packages to allow more significant customization of the device. The first batch of packages includes themes by famous artists, classical literature and the series Ingenuity, selected by Huawei.
