Last Thursday, one day after Vanderlei Luxemburgo’s resignation, President Maurício Galiotte and football director Anderson Barros gave an interview at the Academia de Futebol. On Friday night, through a video published on Instagram, the technician pointed out the representative’s inconsistency in his statements.
The day after the setback against Coritiba, a game that marked the end of Luxa’s management, Galiotte talked about the search for a game model with Palmeiras DNA and said that he considered the squad to fall short of what it can offer. Anderson Barros, asked about the possibility of strengthening the squad, confirmed that the club wants to hire.
“His speech lacked consistency when he says that he will hire players so that the Palmeiras team becomes with offensive DNA. I was hired by Palmeiras for a reconstruction ”, said Luxa, who highlighted achievements such as using the base, the São Paulo title, the series of 20 games without defeat and the campaign in the Copa Libertadores.
“We had several meetings with Anderson Barros, with the president. I said in interviews that the team played according to what they had to play, ugly, and that I wanted to make Palmeiras with their DNA offensive. I requested several hires. So, they were not made. The president’s speech was not consistent with what we did, ”said Luxa.
Dismissed by Galiotte, the coach left office after 18 wins, 15 draws and five defeats, with 54 goals scored and 28 conceded throughout this season. With the coach, the assistant Maurício Copertino and the physical trainer Antônio Mello also left.
Until he hires his next coach, Palmeiras will be in charge on an interim basis by permanent assistant Andrey Lopes. At 8:30 pm (Brasília time) this Sunday, for the 17th round of the Brazilian Championship, the team will face Fortaleza, in Castelão.
