– It is crazy to spend 36 billion kroner on new office space in central Oslo, when we see the enormous needs we have around the country. It is a waste of public money, says SP leader Trygve Slagsvold Vedum to NRK.

Both the Center Party and the Socialist People’s Party want the government to leave the ministries in the buildings they are in today. Former Minister of Petroleum and Energy and now parliamentary representative for Frp, Kjell-Børge Freiberg, is also critical of the use of money.

Slagsvold Vedum will take up the matter in the Storting.

– Now the government must say stop, we must reduce costs. Nikolai Astrup and Erna Solberg cannot defend such spending, he believes.

It was Aftenposten that first mentioned the price tag of NOK 36 billion, but Minister of Trade and Industry Nikolai Astrup (H) will not completely agree that it will be so expensive. He estimates a price of between 26.1 and 36.5 billion kroner, but emphasizes that it is then much more than the government quarter itself embedded in the sum.
