The injury occurred while Mantuan defended the Brazilian under-20 team in a training game last Wednesday (28). According to Corinthians, the striker broke the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee. It will be the third time he has undergone knee surgery.
Mantuan has joined the professional team this season and has had more space in the last games. Last week, he scored one of the winning goals against Vasco 2-1 in São Januário, for the 18th round of the Brasileirão. It was his first goal for the Corinthians professional team.
The alvinegro club did not set a return date, but the injury suffered by Mantuan is similar to that of Danilo Avelar. The defender’s recovery period is up to eight months. He had surgery two weeks ago.
