On October 2, a video recording for the TikTok app went horribly wrong. During a staged kidnapping for TikTok, Mexican Areline Martínez was shot and killed in the city of Chihuahua in Mexico. It reports The Independent.
21-year-old Martínez died after a gun went off when she and friends recorded a video of a fake kidnapping for the TikTok app.
This was not the first time Martínez recorded a similar type of kidnapping video for TikTok, but this time it went wrong.
A video from the minutes before she died is circulating on social media, where you see Martínez with his “kidnappers”. Around 10 people were present at the recording, according to police.
Two men were seen running from the scene after the shot. They have been identified by video footage from the recording, but are still at large, according to the Mexico News Daily.
The Independent State Attorney in Chihuahua, César Augusto Peniche Espejel, told The Independent that there was an ongoing investigation.
– There are several facts to investigate, the young woman’s unfortunate death, the origin of the weapon and how it came into her hands.
This is the last photo Areline Martínez posted on Instagram.
Martínez’s TikTok account has been changed to private after the incident, which means that previous videos are not available.
