After hearing Sakurai’s comment, people started trying to find out how long the crossover has been under consideration, and that’s when Daniel Kaplan, who served as business developer at Mojang until 2017, he decided to join the conversation.
In a sequence of responses on Twitter where they tried to guess when the idea came up, Kaplan stated in a tweet that the developer has been in contact with Nintendo for at least five years to make the partnership happen. He adds, saying he doesn’t know how long ago the character’s implementation started.
Released in late 2018, the latest addition to the franchise Smash Bros. brings together characters from all previous titles and adds new challengers that are much requested by the public, such as Banjo & Kazooie.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available for Nintendo Switch.
