Juklerød and his teammates are flying high at the moment. On Thursday, the Belgian league leader won 1-0 over Tottenham in the Europa League.

The team thus tops its group with a full pot, after winning the opening match in Bulgaria last week.

Davies mistake

After just under half an hour, Ben Davies cloned it and gave the home team the attack that gave 1-0. He’s got a crack at the rebound all alone in front of Dieumerci Mbokani … how did he miss that ?! Unbelievable. At the right moment, he played to Lior Refaelov, who muffled the ball and sent a removable ankle shot into the corner.

José Mourinho noted furiously in his notebook on the sideline. That was not the way Davies wanted to mark his 200th match for the club. During the break, the Tottenham manager made four substitutions.

– I would have preferred to have changed 11 men, but I did not use all five changes because I knew there were 45 long minutes left, Mourinho said.

It was not undeserved that the Belgians led. The wingers constantly created trouble for the Tottenham defense, Simen Juklerød with the move and Koji Miyoshi with the technique.

Mourinho constantly threw in offensive players, to no avail. Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld, who is from Antwerp, however, never came on the field in his hometown.

Juklerød had a huge chance after the break, but alone with Hugo Lloris he blew the ball over.

Dream week

Juklerød also stood out in the first match in the Europa League group stage last week. The Norwegian played the whole match and hit a goal-scoring pass when Royal Antwerp took a strong 2-1 victory away against Bulgarian Ludogorets.

The former Bærum and Vålerenga player did his job so well in that match that he was selected for UEFA’s selection of the round team in the Europa League together with, among others, Arsenal star David Luiz.

This weekend, Juklerød continued the big game when his Royal Antwerp beat Beerschot 3-2 in the Belgian top division. The Norwegian hammered in his third goal of the season in the triumph.

Royal Antwerp tops the table in Belgium one point ahead of Club Brugge after ten games. This weekend, Anderlecht is waiting away for Juklerød & Co.
