A photo of a newborn baby pulling a doctor’s mask at birth has gone viral on social media in the past few days. The person responsible for the birth, Samer Cheaib, was the one who shared the image that has been around the world. Through social media, Cheaib said he hoped the image would be a harbinger that soon everyone could live without masks, alluding to the coronavirus pandemic.
The delivery in question took place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where the child was born in early October. In an interview with the Gulf News website, Cheaib reinforced what he had written on social networks and declared that he sees the baby’s attitude as an omen of the end of Covid-19.
– I never thought the photo would have that repercussion. It was such a spontaneous baby thing. People were excited because it seemed an omen of the end of Covid-19. Everyone wants to take off the mask soon and who knows, we might be able to do it soon. There is positivity in the photo and I think it brings a smile to the face of the beholder. The little newborn wanted a world without masks and maybe very soon we can have that – he said.
Cheaib claimed that the newborn was the second of a pair of twins. The photo, according to the obstetrician, was taken by the child’s father. The image, of course, became an instant hit on the networks and, in just over a week, already has almost 50 thousand likes on the doctor’s page on Instagram.
– He [o pai] I was happy I was taking a picture of me holding each baby. The second baby just took off my mask and the father felt he needed to capture this moment – he reported.
