A few weeks before the launch of the PlayStation 5, Sony announced a partnership with one of the most popular artists today: rapper Travis Scott. The artist joined the brand as a “creative strategy partner”, and intends to collaborate for new projects using his image and the fashion brand Cactus Jack.
In a video released yesterday (22) by Travis himself and the official PlayStation channels, employees of the team who worked on the development of the console wearing clothes and sneakers designed by the rapper, as well as Travis Scott connecting the new PS5, are shown. You can also see a Nike sneaker personalized with the PlayStation logo, an item that may hit stores in the future. On the artist’s Instagram, this video has already passed 3.3 million views. See below:
The PlayStation blog post does not provide specific details about the partnership, it just reinforces creative freedom for future ideas. The post also included a statement by Travis Scott, which can be read below:
I’m really looking forward to showing you everything that Cactus Jack has been working with Sony and the PlayStation team. Most importantly, I’m really excited to see how PlayStation fans and families will react, and I can’t wait to play some games with everyone soon!
This is not Travis Scott’s first collaboration with the gaming world. In April of that year, a live event with the rapper in Fortnite brought together more than 12 million simultaneous players, exceeding the number of active players on Steam at that time.
