Russomanno says Bolsonaro launched Renda Brasil, but program does not exist

The candidate for the Mayor of São Paulo, Celso Russomanno (Republicans), said in his election propaganda that President Jair Bolsonaro “launched” Renda Brasil, but the social assistance program never left the paper. The information is from Folha de S. Paulo.

“Bolsonaro’s emergency aid was essential for the survival of the self-employed, unemployed and informal. That is why the president launched Renda Brasil, so as not to leave all these people empty-handed, ”said Russomanno.

The program was an alternative after the end of emergency aid, but was discarded after criticism of how it would be funded. A new project, called Citizen Income, is under discussion.
