In development by the Serbian studio, Ebb Software, we find Scorn, a science fiction adventure where terror will be served to us in the Next Generation.
The game, under development for Windows and Xbox Series X, recently received a gameplay video.
As stated on the game's website at Microsoft, “Scorn takes place in a universe of nightmares with strange shapes and dark scenarios. It is created around the idea of “being launched into the world”. Isolated and lost within this dream world, you will explore different interconnected regions in a non-linear way. Each location contains its own theme, puzzles and characters that are essential to creating a cohesive world.”
This idea of “being launched into the world” gives an apparent sensation of a game without a linear story and without a guiding thread, which can be a risk because in this type of games, it is good to know where we came from, where we are going and how we are going having to do it.
In any case, the game is a first-person horror shooter, where there will be plenty of reasons for great scares and extreme pressures on the trigger button.
-Full body awareness – Players will experience better immersion being aware of the character’s body and movement. Interaction with the world is realistic – objects are picked up with your hands (instead of just floating in midair), machines and instruments are operated by grabbing the controls etc.
-Inventory and ammo management – is defined and limited. It plays a big role in keeping the player in an even greater state of awareness throughout the whole game. Players will have to think about when to fight and when to take cover and how their actions affect the world around them. Different play styles will be needed to advance.
In the video that was recently revealed (see below), we are shown a little more about Scorn's gameplay, running on an Xbox Series X. In the video, you can feel a little bit of the emotional pressure that the surrounding environment exerts on us as we advance through the dark and gloomy corridors.
I cannot fail to mention that, the gameplay video brings strong memories of the movie Aliens 2: Final Recontro. Do you remember? From when the team of marines accompanying Lieutenant Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) descends to the catacombs of the colony generator to discover the Queen's nest there.
Please note that I do not refer to this as a negative review. Quite the contrary, as this is my second favorite film in the Aliens series.
Scorn still has no concrete release date and will be released for Windows and Xbox Series X.
