Frederico Varandas, president of Sporting, is the target of two disciplinary proceedings by the Disciplinary Council of the Portuguese Football Federation.
The first process is related to the press conference that followed the classic with FC Porto, at Alvalade Stadium, in which Frederico Varandas criticized the reversal of a penalty in favor of Sporting, raising doubts as to whether the decision would be identical at the Stadium da Luz or the Estádio do Dragão.
The second process is related to the response of Frederico Varandas to Pinto da Costa, moments before the Sporting team embarked towards the Azores where they went to face Santa Clara. In these statements, the president of Sporting accused his counterpart of being a “bandit”.
Still in relation to the classic between Sporting and FC Porto, the Council of Justice also announced the opening of a process of inquiry into the coach Ruben Amorim, “to investigate any statements allegedly made by the sports agent”.
