In partnership with the Butantan Institute, the SES (State Health Secretariat) signed the cooperation agreement for testing the CoronaVac vaccine in Mato Grosso do Sul. Employees interested in participating in the tests can apply from this Thursday (15 ) and the expectation is that immunization will be available in the State in January 2021.
According to the Secretary of Health, Geraldo Resende, the volunteers must be civil servants or employees in the health area, whether in the public or private sector, aged between 18 and 59 years. A thousand people will participate in the tests.
To enroll as a volunteer, simply access the Butantan Institute website where the candidate will be screened. In addition, SES should soon create an application for volunteers to register via cell phone.
The CoronaVac vaccine, from the Sinovac laboratory, will be applied in two doses with an interval of 14 days each. The expectation is that, if tests are promising, the vaccine may already be available to the population of Mato Grosso do Sul from January 2021.
SES will provide adequate physical structure for the proper functioning of the tests, such as the SUS Technical School (ETSUS) and the Central Laboratory of Mato Grosso do Sul (Lacen-MS). The Health in MS also highlights that the responsibility for carrying out the study rests with the researchers, with no link whatsoever between the research volunteers and the SES. There will also be no transfer of financial resources.
According to the Secretary of Health, Geraldo Resende said that if the vaccine works, it will be at the discretion of the Ministry of Health to organize the purchase and distribution to the states of the country. “MS participates in this process, but we understand that the purchase and distribution, not only of the vaccine, but of other inputs, has to be commanded by the Ministry of Health within the PNI, National Immunization Program”, he commented.
