THE BALL – Roglic shows strength, gains stage and throws confusion in the classification (Volta a Espanha)

Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) was again stronger than anyone and won this Friday the 10th stage of the Tour of Spain (Castro Urdiales-Suances, 185 km), after having also won the eighth (this is his third victory in total).

What followed was a double review of the rankings: for a few minutes, the organization placed the top eight with the same time and the remaining three seconds, by apparent cut – which would give the leadership split between Roglic and Carapaz -, but then did revision and put everyone with the same time until 29th to arrive. In other words, Carapaz would be in the lead with another three seconds.

However, minutes later, the organization returned to the first version, giving Roglic the lead. Both have the same time, but Roglic went to the podium and will return tomorrow to wear the leader’s jersey.

in addition to the three seconds, Roglic added 10 seconds for winning the draw, after 185 kilometers between Castro Urdiales and Suances, having beaten Austrian Felix Grossschartner (BORA-hansgrohe), in second place, and Italian Andrea Bagioli (Deceuninck-QuickStep), third.

Ivo Oliveira tried to escape five kilometers from the goal, with the Frenchman Rémi Cavagna, but he was caught by the peloton, finishing at 3m44 in 128th.

Rui Costa was the first Portuguese to cut a goal (44th, 32 seconds), then Ricardo Vilela (63rd), Nélson Oliveira (66th), and Rui Oliveira (129th).

In general, Rui Costa and Nélson Oliveira maintained positions – 37th and 57th -, Ricardo Vilela went up to 91st, Ivo Oliveira went down to 120th and Rui Oliveira went up to 139th.
