This is confirmed by the club in a press release on Saturday. The three current players belong to the club’s elite league team for women, all of whom are already in ten-day quarantine.
“Unfortunately, we must announce that there are now three more players from Tertnes Handball Elite who have been diagnosed with covid-19 infection,” it says in a statement.
Henrikke (19) infected – the whole team in quarantine
Henrikke Kjølholdt was diagnosed with the virus earlier this week, and in Saturday’s report it appears that Eva Erdal Moen, Linn Gossé and Martine Knutsen have also tested positive.
The latter three have been diagnosed with infection after undergoing new tests after the first case was discovered.
“Given the circumstances, we are prepared for more cases in the coming days, but of course we hope for the best. The conditions are good with the players in question, but they have a somewhat varying picture of the disease, from no symptoms to common cold / flu symptoms “, writes Tertnes.
– Are you confident that there will be no more positive tests in Tertnes?
– We are not sure of that, and we are prepared for more to come. We will not have a decision until next week because there will be more tests on the players who have now tested negative, says general manager Marit Brox to TV 2.
– Is the risk of playing the European Cup too great considering the positive cases you have now received?
– It is easy to say in retrospect, but we feel that we took absolutely all precautions during travel, training and matches. We also felt that the organizing club took this very seriously. This is not something we have taken lightly. No players have been forced to travel. The squad was consulted before we decided to travel to play the match. And it has been reported to me that no players on the team we met have tested positive.
As a result, Thursday’s planned cup match against Grane Arendal was postponed. It is also clear that the league match against Aker has been postponed.
