The number of Americans who have filed new aid requestsunemployment unexpectedly increased in the past week, which may raise fears that the AIDS pandemic Covid-19 causing lasting damage to the labor market of United States.

Initial claims for unemployment benefits totaled 898,000 seasonally adjusted in the week ending October 10, compared to 845,000 reading the previous week, the US Department of Labor said on Thursday.

Economists consulted by Reuters expected 825,000 requests for assistance for the past week.
