Democratic US vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris canceled a campaign trip after two people, a crew member and Harris’ communications director, Liz Allen, tested positive for covid-19.
The information was confirmed by the campaign director of the candidate for President, Joe Biden, in a statement cited by CNN. In a statement, Jen O‘Malley Dillon clarified that Harris was not in close contact, in the sense of the American health authorities, with any of those infected.
Still, the trip planned for Thursday to North Carolina has been canceled and Harris will not be back on the road until Monday.
“None of these people had contact with the [antigo] Vice President Biden, Senator Harris or any other team members since they tested positive or within 48 hours prior to the positive results of their tests, ”assured O‘Malley Dillon. He added: “After being with Senator Harris, both individuals participated in personal and non-campaign events last week. According to our campaign’s strict health protocols, both individuals had to be tested before returning to their campaign work. ”
“These protocols help to protect the campaign, the team and anyone with whom we may have had contact. Once again, the importance of having these protocols was demonstrated, which include tests before resuming functions, regular testing during face-to-face work, isolation after a period of rest, wearing a mask and distance ”, he added.
