Vipps launches its own mobile subscription

Vipps is now launching its own mobile subscription – in the Vipps app.

– Many people perceive their mobile subscription as difficult and confusing. Therefore, we thought that here was a good opportunity to use our simplification experience in new areas, says Elisabeth Haug, head of Vipps mobile, in a press release.

Rolled out in the app

Vipps further writes that their “mobile subscription” is gradually being rolled out to all users over the age of 15 in the app, where you both order and manage your subscription.

– Vipps is already an app most people have, so then you get more in one place without having to download unnecessary apps, says Elisabeth Haug.

You can choose between two different monthly prices – which gives you 4 GB for 250 kroner or 15 GB for 399 kroner.

In comparison, Dinside’s latest price check of mobile subscriptions from June this year shows that you get 15 GB for NOK 349 a month at Chili Mobil as the most affordable alternative for this amount of data. We will be back with a new price check shortly, so far you can see our latest price check in the article below.

Eternal rollover

If you do not use up all mobile data for a month, you will receive a perpetual rollover with the new subscription.

– We have no expiration date of gigabytes. What you do not use for a month, you take with you as long as you have the mobile app, and you can use it whenever you want in Norway. Simpler, more clear and not least fairer, says Haug, and adds that there is no lock-in period.

Vipp’s mobile app can be found under “profile” in your app, where you place your order and manage your app. Today, it only works with a physical SIM, with coverage from Telenor.
