Already last year, Samsung added Apple’s TV app to the app gallery on a number of the company’s newer TVs. Today, Sony has just announced that Apple TV will now also be available on the XH90 series via an update.
The Apple TV app comes with Apple TV +, which is Apple’s own streaming service with original shows, TV series, movies and documentaries. Via Apple TV, users can also subscribe to and stream content from other content providers. Many of the well-known Nordic and international streaming services are involved, including ViaPlay, Cmore, TV 2 Zulu, HBO Nordic and Amazon Prime. An important exception is Netflix, which has chosen to stay on its own platform.
Many more models at the end of the year
The selected Sony TVs from the XH90 series, which will initially support Apple TV, will also support AirPlay 2 and HomeKit.
With AirPlay 2 you can e.g. play videos or other content directly from your iPhone, iPad or MacBook to your Smart TV. HomeKit provides easy and secure operation of smart TVs directly from your Apple device using the Home app or via Siri.
Apple TV will be launched via an update and will come to some selected Sony TV models from 2018 as well as most models from 2019 and 2020 by the end of the year.
