Research pointed out that 54% of Salvadorans are waiting for Black Friday promotions to acquire that much more expensive one that has not yet managed to leave the wish list. According to the survey, the average ticket invested by those who will buy will be R $ 1,200.00

The survey, carried out by consultancy Pollis Strategy, in partnership with Shopping Itaigara and the Unijorge Administration Course, also points out that the first places on the shopping list of those who will take advantage of the promotions are: Christmas gifts, household utensils and cell phones . The survey heard 200 participants of diverse purchasing power.

The day of promotions is always scheduled for the last Friday of November. In view of the expectation of increased sales, several stores end up anticipating special prices throughout the month. Peak sales, however, are still expected for the official promotions weekend, starting on the 27th.

“It is the first big date of retail when we will have malls open. There are still limitations and security protocols need to be followed. This has an impact on sales, but the expectation is still positive ”, says Edson Piaggio, state coordinator of the Brazilian Association of Shopping Centers, in Bahia (Abrasce – Ba).

Piaggio explains that sales have not yet returned to the level before the pandemic and that it is still not possible to wait for numbers that exceed those of 2019. “Since the malls reopened, we are selling 60% less than the same period last year and the expectation is that with Black Friday we will only have 10% less in comparison, ”he details.

“It is a period that has increasingly expanded the sectors that end up benefiting. Appliances and electronics are always in high demand, but each year other sectors also end up with an increase in sales ”, he concludes.

Administrative assistant Sofia Costa, 32, is one of the Salvadorans who wants to take advantage of discounts. Unlike most, she put aside electronics to focus savings on completing a home renovation. “I recently remodeled the apartment but the money didn’t pay for some details and especially for furniture and decoration. I’ve already prepared everything, I have the measurements, the model and I want to see if I can buy a dinner table, in addition to getting some materials to finish some details of the work itself ”, she says.

The building materials, despite not being the stars of the date, carry great expectations for this year. According to a survey conducted by the Federation of Commerce of Goods, Services and Tourism of the State of Bahia (Fecomércio-Ba), construction materials should be the sector with the greatest increase in sales for the period, with an increase of 34.7% in sales compared to the previous month, since the sector is heated.

For products generally associated with the date, home appliances & electronics, Fecomércio predicts an increase in revenue of 16.5%, reaching 2.3 billion reais. Despite the massive numbers, the data does not change the downturn scenario compared to the previous year.

“In general, it will be an extremely positive result when analyzing what was expected at the beginning of the crisis. In May, for example, a sharp decline of 37% was projected for the performance of November. However, the improvement in recent months is still not enough to change the expected negative balance for the year of -7% ”, analyzes the economic consultant at Fecomércio-BA, Guilherme Dietze, responsible for the research carried out by the agency.

With an eye to possible blows, the Superintendence of Consumer Protection and Defense (Procon-BA), an agency linked to the Secretariat of Justice, Human Rights and Social Development of Bahia (SJDHDS), has been inspecting websites that preceded Black’s promotional event since October Friday. Last Tuesday (17th), inspections were initiated in large shopping centers, such as malls, and street businesses. The inspections take place until the day of the Black Friday, next Friday (27).

During the first day of operation started at Salvador Shopping, in 18 inspected locations, infractions were identified in four establishments, such as the display of priceless products in an internal, external and in-store window.

“This type of infraction generates administrative processes for companies and if it is not corrected, it can generate a fine. We have been inspecting the sites since October, as many stores have anticipated Black Friday and we have followed up. We have investigated some rules that e-commerce requires, as CNPJ number, and in physical stores we will evaluate basic issues such as price and sales, for example, “said Iratan Vilas Boas, director of inspection at Procon-BA.
