The news of the death was confirmed by the doctor’s daughter, Mônica Frazão, on Saturday afternoon, on a social network. “Friends, my father, Dr. Frazão, after 8 months of struggle has just passed away,” he wrote. “Dad, I can’t believe you’re gone. I’m in mourning,” said the daughter.
During the seven months and eight days he was hospitalized, Covid-19 compromised the lungs and kidneys of the elderly. He suffered infections, thrombosis and has undergone physiotherapy and speech therapy sessions in recent months.

Frazão was born in Piauí, but lived most of his life in Rio de Janeiro. A rheumatologist, he moved in with his daughter and family in Florianópolis in 2017, after his wife died of cancer. He was in the Itajaí Valley when he started experiencing flu-like symptoms and shortness of breath.
According to the family, the elderly sought care at the hospital on April 12, and the tests confirmed that he had been infected by the coronavirus. The next day, the doctor had to be taken to the Santa Catarina hospital. On the 16th, he asked doctors to do the intubation.
