With active noise cancellation, fast pairing and a curious design proposal, the model promises neat sound and good ergonomics. Despite this, its shape in the socket can disappoint, as well as the autonomy – at least in relation to other competing products. Here are some positives and negatives of Galaxy Buds Live.

The Samsung wireless headset has top of the line features and integration with branded products. Among the functions, the offer of active noise cancellation, absent in other Galaxy Buds, stands out. The device also allows you to start Spotify with a long touch on the phone’s surface, has Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, two microphones on each side and the ability to interact with the virtual assistant Bixby.

You can also create a type of network listening to share the sound with friends. In addition, the product has support for the SBC codec, used by Samsung, and the AAC, especially useful for those who intend to use it with an iPhone, for example.

Using Bluetooth 5.0, Galaxy Buds Live has fast pairing support that makes it easy to connect your phone to compatible devices. With that, just open the case and the phone will send a signal and automatically connect to the cell phone, for example.

This instant connection capability makes it easy to set up the headset and makes the task of using them as simple as connecting the headset with cable to the P2 output. Samsung also promises that the functionality is not exclusive to mobile phones, as a similar fast connection feature is supported for Windows 10 computers.

Samsung defends the shape of the headphones, which resemble beans, due to their ergonomics, stating that the design follows the shape of the ear and the curves of the user’s face more naturally. According to the manufacturer, this makes the product more comfortable and fits the ear better.

The idea is that the headphones fit better to the ear and are more supported, even with the user moving all the time. Another benefit of the design would be a more comfortable user experience, even after hours of listening to music or watching a movie.

Despite having the most “ergonomic and comfortable” format, according to Samsung, Buds Live is not in-ear, like the Galaxy Buds +, nor an earbud, like the AirPods. The external design can even guarantee a good fit in some ears, but there are, for example, no tip alternatives for a better adaptation by the user.

Therefore, extra care is needed when placing the device on the ear. A poor fit can make use uncomfortable and cause headphones to fall out all the time. In addition, it can compromise the sound quality and performance of the noise cancellation system.

Battery life is a noticeable limitation of Galaxy Buds Live when compared to other headsets. Samsung promises 6 hours of use in the headphones and another 15 hours through the case that has the ability to recover one hour of sound with just five minutes of charging. Meanwhile, Samsung’s Galaxy Buds + promises 11 hours on the headphones and another 11 hours with the case. Another rival, the AirPods Pro, has 5 hours of battery life and another 19h with the case, totaling 24 hours.

The difference may not be very large, but it can make a difference in your daily use. It is worth mentioning that this lower capacity is directly linked to the active noise cancellation feature, which is absent in the other accessory of the South Korean giant. In the case of apple headphones, the function is available and, even so, the autonomy is superior in total.
