Portugal recorded in the last 24 hours more 3,262 cases of people infected by covid-19, which brings the total in the country to 298,061, according to the data released this Monday, November 30, by the General Directorate of Health (DGS) .
As for deaths related to the new coronavirus, increased by 78, which puts the total deaths since the start of the pandemic in 4,505.
On the positive side, the number of recovered patients was 3,408 in the last 24 hours, which increased the total number of recovered patients to 212,946.
Thus, active cases, which are calculated by subtracting recovered patients and deaths from the total number of confirmed cases, decreased by 224 to 80,614 active infections. This number corresponds to 27.05% of the total accumulated cases, being the lowest percentage since 9 September.
The number of new deaths increased from 64 yesterday.
The number of cases fell from 4,093 the previous day, with the daily average of new cases in the last seven days falling to 4,751.3, a minimum since 7 November.
In the last 14 days, Portugal accumulated 703.09 new cases per 100 thousand inhabitants. This indicator, widely used internationally to measure the spread of the virus and a criterion determined by the Government to consider municipalities at risk, more than triples the defined limit of 240 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants.
Hospitalizations to increase
The number of hospitalized patients due to covid-19 increased by 97 to a total of 3,342 patients, above the previous absolute record – observed last Tuesday (3,275).
As for the most serious cases of hospitalizations in intensive care units, there are now 525 (the historical maximum is 536 and was reached yesterday).
North with more cases
As has been the case, most of the new cases reported are located in the North, which adds another 1,795 new cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total in the region to 156,485.
Lisbon and the Tagus Valley (LVT) now have 98,523 cases, 839 more than yesterday.
Of the remaining new cases, 407 were in the Center, 148 in the Alentejo, 34 in the Algarve, 32 in the Azores and 7 in Madeira.
As for deaths, the majority were in the North, with 42. Lisbon and Vale do Tejo follow with 28, the Center with 6 and Alentejo with 2.
In the Algarve, Madeira and the Azores there are no new fatalities to mourn.
