Almost 200 people were treated during the morning and afternoon of yesterday (1st), during the action for the World AIDS Day, held at Praça Antônio João, in Dourados, within the December Red Campaign.
The action, developed by the SAE / CTA (Specialized Assistance Service / Testing and Counseling Center) team, under the coordination of the Municipal STI / AIDS and Viral Hepatitis Program, aimed to establish the intertwining of communication, promote the exchange of information and experiences and create a spirit of social tolerance, as explained by the Program coordinator, Aurenita Barbosa.
“By evoking the ongoing fighting activities and encouraging new initiatives, World AIDS Day contributes to building lasting action against the disease,” she says.
According to the coordinator, at least 162 people performed rapid testing during the action, totaling 648 rapid tests, including HIV, syphilis, HBsAg and HcV.
In addition, the program distributed around 1,000 information kits about STIs, with folders, condoms, lubricating gels and campaign gifts.
The action was supported by the State University of Mato Grosso do Sul, which was present with the Nursing class, assisting in orienting and clarifying the population regarding STIs (Sexually Transmitted Infections), their treatments and means of prevention.
