Meia came to play two matches of the Mineiro Championship, but Cruzeiro’s exit was certain due to the high salary
After a few weeks of negotiation, Bahia reached an agreement with Rodriguinho and should announce the midfielder in the next few days. The team overcame competition from teams from outside the country and had the desire of the player, who would like to stay in Brazil to be close to the family.
Rodriguinho was slow to define his situation because he was waiting for the termination with Cruzeiro. The player still had a contract with the mining team until 2021, but reached an agreement for the termination, giving up the values related to the months he still had to receive.
The 31-year-old midfielder started his career at ABC and also played for Bragantino and América-MG until he reached Corinthians, where he shone more and was even called up for the Brazilian team.
Rodriguinho was even loaned to Grêmio and Arab football and returned for a second spell at Corinthians in 2015. After that, he left Brazil again to defend Pyramids, from Egypt, and hit with Cruzeiro in 2019.
In the Minas Gerais team, he suffered with injuries and entered the field a few times, unable to help avoid relegation of the team to Serie B of the Brazilian Championship.
Due to the high salary, he was one of the players that the Cruzeirense board was unable to maintain for the current season. He even played two matches in the Mineiro Championship this year, while he still had a contract with the club, but his departure was only a matter of time.
