O crowdfunding raised R $ 64.4 thousand, which corresponds to only 25% of the R $ 256 thousand needed to reach the goal, with a total of 711 supporters. The confederation’s allowance, however, allowed the registration of Brazilian futsal in the Olympic Games for athletes with Down Syndrome, which start on March 31.
The partnership came after the senator’s request Romario (Pode-RJ), known in Congress for defending agendas linked to the disabled. The former striker appeared last week at CBF headquarters in Rio to personally request assistance from Rogério Caboclo, president of the entity.
Cleiton Monteiro, coach of the Brazilian Futsal Down team, was one of the creators of the “virtual cow”. He was at CBF headquarters last Monday to participate in the outcome of the negotiations with the secretary general, Walter Feldman, and did not hide his excitement for the happy ending.
“We are the current world champions and we are very happy. It is a historic moment for the Confederation and for futsal down to be here closing this partnership to be able to participate in the World Cup ”, vibrated Monteiro.
Feldman also celebrated the agreement and praised the achievements of the team formed by athletes with Down Syndrome. “It is a team that has already been a champion and has achieved this international prestige, and President Rogério Caboclo asked CBF Social to assist them in this demand. We have already made all the internal arrangements and the Futsal Down team will be in Turkey defending the title in the month of March and, God willing, becoming the champion ”, he said.
